the weekend of no surprises

Weekend went exactly as predicted. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, but in any case, it was a great weekend! There's just something so energetic about the first few days after you feel that shift in the air and it's suddenly, actually cold. I've been bouncing around with a smile on my face since Friday. I'm still in a good mood but today the sun is making me really drowsy.
1h and 10 minutes until home-time, then just 4 days to go!!

And yes, it does feel a bit weird to look forward to going on a sun holiday when enjoying the cold, but mostly I'm looking forward to time off in beautiful surroundings. Still. A bit weird. I've packed among other things 2 bikinis, 3 pairs of shorts, no long pants whatsoever and one warm sweater.

Global warming, please don't mess with Mallorca next week!!

the miracles of modern technology

I had my first VC call yesterday (that's Video Conference for you uninitiated). Very awkward at first, but once we got talking it was fine. I guess it's just like webcam but multiple user, but in my job we never get to see the people at other offices so I thought it was really cool! We had a lovely and inspiring chat about data quality with the team in the Amsterdam office (I have mentioned I'm a geek, right?). They were super nice and it was quite jovial. We had an almost equally long session afterwards with our team talking strategy, and I'm going to try and retain that feeling of 'anything is possible, let's get on it'.

Today is Friday, it's the first really crisp fall day, the sun is shining and it's supposed to last all weekend! Tomorrow I'm going to Lund where I'll probably go to the cinema. I've wanted to go for ages but it hasn't worked out with A or J, so I'm just gonna go on my own! It's a new movie called "Patrik 1,5" with one of my favourite Swedish actors, Torkel Petersson. He breaks some kind of natural law by being both sweet and super-hot while being named Torkel. I'm not sure how to convey this in English, but Torkel is not normally a very studly name. It's more like an awkward teen or old farty uncle name, but somehow he defies this.
Anyhow, it opens tonight so I'm going to catch a matiné and stroll around town for a bit. Better get acquainted for when I move there in less than 3 weeks!

Anyway, apart from that I'm going to be doing washing and start to pack for Mallorca next Saturday, as well as for the Move. And also enjoy the weather by long walks with Linus, of course :)
Happy week-end everyone!

Moving/Movement

I have furniture!! Sadly, it's all stowed away safely in the storage room until Moving Day. Still, it was fun. Crazy mad on a Sunday, burned a whole in my wallet and aching in new places after lugging it in and off the trailer, but fun.

I also called the rental agency again today and they ensured me that the mold that was written about in the newspapers was due to some kind of isolated leak and not in our building. This guy definitely sounds a bit shifty, but what he says makes some sense and we're now getting our separate inspection on move-in day. This could be both positive or negative - if they find anything it's a bit late to have any leverage, we kind of have to move in. But we do get to see the inspection ourselves instead of just getting a report, and this also reassures me he means it when he says there should be no problems. M is also getting in touch with the current residents today to negotiate the move-in date and deal with some practical issues, and she's going to check with them as well... Fingers crossed but I think it should be OK!

On Saturday I finally made myself go to Löplabbet to test my pronation type - apparently I'm neutral. This is somewhat disapppointing as I've been having recurrent problems with a shin splint/tibia pain for a couple of weeks now, and that could have been a probably cause. I went running last night and felt fine until this morning... it really sucks. It can apparently go away IF:

-you stretch/use a heat/ice pack/use liniment/change surfaces/train up your muscles/rest/not rest/cross-train. Alternatively it could:

-become cronic/cause a fracture/need surgery. Woohoo, not. I'm confused!!

Suggested alternate sports was bicycling and swimming. I *hate* bicycling with a vengeance, and swimming, well, that one should be obvious. Apart from the obvious it's laborious and all the chlorine ruins your hair and skin.
I'm a regular Miss Sunshine today!!! Well, it is Monday...

Oh!

Christian Siriano won of course :)

I had no doubts whatsoever except maybe for those last two seconds before they announced the decision and he was about to cry and so sure he lost... but he didn't!! It's probably a good thing his clothes are only available in sizes 0, 2, and 4 (or 32, 34, 36) or I'd do something silly like order a puffy-sleeved silk blouse for $150 dollars from the US, haha.

I'm glad he won, but the work week seems very long without my Wednesday Project Runway fix to break it up. There is fuck all to watch on TV now.

Facebook is just unnatural

I wonder how many psychological thesi (?) will be written in the next few years on unheard of social situations emerging through Facebook usage? Today I was cruising around former high school classmates, most of whom I wouldn't befriend in a million years (not neccessarily because they're horrible people but those were horrible years and I'd rather leave it behind me, although maybe repression is not the best way, hmm). Anyway, some of them have befriended our gym teacher (again, imagine through use of association and deduction how much I'd never ever want to even bump into him again)!!

Turns out he's a lot younger than I thought! I still find the whole thing a tad creepy though.
