in need of a holiday...

...but I guess that wont happen for a while. This weekend definitely passed too quickly!

On Friday went to a leaving party for my Brazilian friend, and came home at noon the next day. It was a bit sad and I almost didn't go, as I hadn't seen her in ages I would have missed her less if I just didn't show up, but I'm not *that* cynical - yet. It was great though, we went dancing and I actually felt my age (as in, I actually felt like 23 as opposed to... I dunno, 30, spending most of my time with people who, though lovely, have very different priorities and lifestyles).

Spent the rest of Saturday on the couch and Sunday I went to IKEA. There's supposedly one much closer to me in Croydon, but I couldn't figure out how to get there so just went to Edmonton on the other side of London. It was worth it, though I managed to comletely mismatch my bedspread with the walls - they're a very odd brown colour and it kind of really doesn't work. I can't be arsed trying to exchange it though, I'll just have to bear it. It's not as if I will spend that much time looking at it - there's nowhere else to hang in my room than on the bed, still, it bugs me as I usually manage to turn my habitats very pleasant. It's still cozy, just. Not perfect.

On a completely unrelated note, have I mentioned how much I love my new tube station?
Not only do they play classical music in the mornings, but they have an extra status board, (usually associated with 'oh my god victoria line is delayed will be late for work gaah') where someone puts a thought of the day, a motivational quote of some kind. They're usually pretty inspiring (and so far there's only been religious elements once).

This morning was the most depressive thing, it was pouring down and windy and I stayed in bed till 8 and still made it to work only 5 mins late... but now it's cleared up great, the weather reminds me of Barca somehow - sunny and clear but with a chill. Anyway, I'm greatful the weather is supposed to be decent as the sis is coming on Wednesday! and staying over the weekend, which should be fun.

Not much to bitch about today, I did wake up with a nosebleed again in the middle of the night which is often terrifying, and is making me a bit more tired than usual (4am is not a good time to stay up for an hour as far as your sleep cycle is concerned).

Also, I need a new laptop, there's a huge sale on but it ends Tuesday and we get paid on Wednesday.
*grr*

enforced captivity

Apparently I managed to lock my flatmate's friend (who was unbeknownst to me staying over at our place) in the house today.

She's still locked in (it's now 1pm).

Apparently both she and my flatmate think it's kind of hilarious. I'm glad this is their reaction.

paper work

Baah. Bloated. RA lunch today, which is always heaps! of fun and gossip and free! food, but leaves you very dull for the rest of the afternoon, which is not good when you're insanely busy, like I am.

It's been an odd week - I've spent two days feeling constantly dizzy and nauseous - like motion sickness but not as a result of being in a moving vehicle, only from walking and talking and trying to work on a computer screen... Unvoluntary constant tilt-a-whirl rides, yihaa. I've researched it and it is apparently quite common, can be all kinds of things which are usually quite harmless and most pass by themselves (for now I'm on motion sickness meds so I don't have to feel like hurling). I'm trying to arrange a GP but first my bank has to send me something so I can prove my address. Logical, but annoying.

my arm feels broken

...(due to four days of suitcase dragging) but apart from that I have now successfully completed my house move (except for all those bags underneath my desk, gah). Slept pretty well the first night, bed is comfy but I think some screws need tightening as its very wobbly (but seems to be somehow still be relatively securely put together, thank god). The trains take some getting used to, but on the whole its not worse than sleeping next to a very old refrigerator in terms of noise...

I'm not big on unpacking but I love decorating, and I can't wait to buy a few posters (to cover all the blue tack and pin marks) and put up all my pictures. I think it can turn out quite quite. I might possibly also purchase some kind of small table. And the last housemate left behind a CD player, and although I don't listen to music that often I think I will a bit more now. I like to listen at a fairly low volume, which doesn't work that well when you play music on your laptop or the tv/dvd, so it's all good.

Back at work...

...but would much rather still be here. Blurgh.
