Welcome 2009!!!

That's exactly how enthusiastic I feel today, 3 days in at work. No really!

OK, no... I can't sleep! It's driving me nuts. Third day in a row now, I'm guessing I'm averaging maybe 4h a night and being sleepy has become commonplace (yet still sucks). I mean, I'm sleepy until 10 minutes after I've gone to bed. Then suddenly I'm not. And yes I've just had holiday but my holiday sleeping pattern is something like, instead of going to bed at 22.30 I go to bed at the very latest 23.30. Instead of waking up at 6.20 I go up somewhere between 8.15 and 8.45. Not exactly drastically different and crazy. It feels like I didn't get enough time off - at the end of the second week I started to philosophise about the new Year, feeling vaguely that I need to challenge myself somehow (through something which does not involve moving to a different country. again).
At the moment apparently my subconscious is on strike and demands a recount, or. A decision, or, I dunno. What do you want?? My sister suggested some meditation, but I think I'm gonna go with my original solution, a half-bottle of wine. That will set me up just fiiine (never feed me wine if dancing is even a remote possibility at the end of a festive gathering, it does not have an energizing effect on me, to say the least).

Christmas was great, though. Just the right amount of family time, didn't have an obscene amount of food and in any case I started running again during the xmas week, in the freezing cold. Quite proud - now I just have to take that daring step and take my first run in my Lund neighbourhood with it's excess of people who can see me huff and puff.
The running was also the backdrop for the most (or maybe, only) adrenaline-fueled event of the holiday - my first in-situ moose encounter. I always hear things creaking in the forest, but now in winter there's no foliage and as I peered to the left on my Christmas Day morning run I see a moose come charging against me, about to cross my path.

I don't keep track of my running times but if I did, I'm sure that notched up my speed average quite considerably.

Anyway. It's been an awful week so far, and I'm going to pout about this just one more time and then try and let it go but yesterday, Trettondagen, is a public holiday in Sweden. Meaning most people had Monday off and pretty much everyone were asleep yesterday Tuesday as I dragged my sorry ass to work. I could choose to start work at 10 or 8.15 (Sunday traffic!), so I was up at 5.30am again. Fun.
Yeah yeah I'm gonna stop moaning now and go get a double espresso or something. The post-lunch slump is quite severe today.
