not according to plan

That sums up last weekend pretty nicely! Was planning to go to London, was meeting at least a dozen friends and was going to get my summer wardrobe back.

Nope! Strep throat, has ruled my weekend. I can't remember if I've ever had it before, certainly I've had really bad sore throats with the flu but this was really quite horrendous. Anyway, finally felt well enough to go back to work today, where I found out everyone else could be bothered to go to the doctor (I read if it was a virus tonsillitis obviously antibiotics weren't going to help, and we were several ppl down), and yes it was bacterial (but apparently we've managed to spread it anyway, which the doctor found odd for an office environment) and who wasn't on antibiotics because you can keep spreading it for up to 3 weeks if you don't get the pills...

Hence I left work early (with a laptop!) and spent 1h and 45 mins getting a throat culture which takes 5mins to develop. I could describe in detail the various waiting elements in the lovely 70's institution hallways (especially the last one involving the patient before me, a 4-year-old who refused to open his mouth, requiring additional staff to come to assistance, desperate pleading and lots of crying (albeit, close-mouthed and thus slightly muffled...).

But I won't. That'd just be silly. The point of the matter is that tomorrow my time from leaving my warm bed to arriving at work will decrease from 2h and 50mins to - an estimated 15 seconds. The dress code will probably also be even more relaxed than usual (I can work in my pyjamas!! wohoo!!).
For the first time in my life I will be working from home! I wouldn't want to miss out on the office environment long-term (with all the lovely people and, you know, bugs) but right now it seems like a sweet deal. I can have my mid-morning tea whilst sitting on the porch with the dog.
Sweet.
