Christmas....

...is coming closer in leaps and bounds. Honestly, it's all going so quickly!! In 15 days I'll be heading for the airport, wohoo!!

Started my xmas shopping last weekend when J was visiting. Oxford Street was traffic free (apparently a one-off, but with excellent timing) and there where all kinds of bands playing - xmas brass bands, pipe bands, and several drum bands including one really cool one with these long swishy black coats and they were kind of dancing as well. Awesome. Lovely to see J and show her London, and though she approved, was not interested in ever relocating (too many people).

Yesterday was the researchers xmas party, which was quite merry. I left late (although I intended not to, of course) but despite a fairly heavy amount of drinks I feel perfectly fine today. I stuck to the vodka and lo behold - not a headache in, eh, sight (?). Maybe slightly tired, and I would love to just go home and nap but today is my practice group's equivalent of the xmas lunch - a dinner buffé thing in the penthouse dining room. Apparently it's an Indian buffé and hey, free food! I am so not doing very well in the run up for xmas though - yesterday I had about 20 salmon puffs for dinner (there were not many vegetarian hours d'ourves) and I guess it'll be more of the same today... Swedish xmas food is practically health food compared to all these fried things (but they are delicious).

Speaking of my practice group, we also have a goodbye lunch for me and two other team members next week. I am leaving Consumer - for the 8th floor and the data team! I'll still do some of the stuff I do now but probably for two different practice groups based on the 8th floor and only two days a week. The new RA arrives next Monday, so I'll do the handover until xmas and then start January downstairs. Apart from slight sadness in departing from consumer, the 8th floor offers several advantages such as an average room temperature at least 8 degrees warmer than my current ice-box location and a lack of elevator noise (my current desk is right next to the elevator shafts, which are bloody loud).

It does have a really shit kettle though.
